Structural Verification of Buildings Dedicated to Research Facilities

INCIMAT carried out the structural verification of a building dedicated to research and development activities, evaluating its load-bearing capacity under the actions associated with the intended use, the installation of specialized scientific equipment, and the functional requirements typical of this type of facility.

The scope of work included the assessment of the existing structure, the characterization of the structural systems, the review of permanent and variable loads, and the evaluation of demands associated with laboratories, precision equipment, technical installations, and specialized working areas.

Using advanced structural models, the overall behavior of the building was verified through the analysis of deformations, stresses, vibrations, stability, and load-bearing capacity of the various structural elements. The compatibility of the structure with potential future modifications and equipment upgrades was also assessed.

Particular attention was given to areas housing sensitive equipment, where deformation and vibration criteria play a critical role in ensuring the proper performance of research activities and scientific processes.

The results enabled the validation of the building’s structural capacity and the establishment of technical criteria for its use, adaptation, or future enhancement, ensuring the safety, functionality, and long-term durability of the facility.
