Structural Design of Self-Supporting and Industrial Steel Chimneys

INCIMAT carried out the structural design of self-supporting steel chimneys for industrial facilities, evaluating their performance under wind actions, thermal effects, service loads, and operating conditions specific to industrial processes.

The scope of work included the geometric definition of the chimney, the analysis of shell thicknesses, stiffeners, shell sections, access platforms, ladders, auxiliary supports, and connection elements linked to the existing facility.

Using advanced structural models, the overall stability of the chimney was verified, including buckling resistance, stress distribution within the steel shell, allowable deformations, and dynamic response under environmental actions.

During the development of the project, particular attention was paid to the slenderness of the structure, wind loading effects, welded and bolted connections, durability under aggressive industrial environments, and compatibility with the flue gas exhaust system.

The result was a safe, efficient, and optimized structural solution tailored to the operating conditions of an industrial facility, ensuring the stability, functionality, and long-term service life of the steel chimney.
