Design of Shallow Foundations for a 50 MW Solar Farm

INCIMAT developed the design and verification of shallow foundations for a 50 MW solar farm, defining support solutions tailored to the characteristics of the terrain, the layout of the solar trackers, and the structural requirements of the facility.

The work included an analysis of the loads transmitted by the photovoltaic structures, taking into account dead weight, wind, effects resulting from the orientation of the modules, service loads, and specific site conditions.

During the project, the bearing capacity of the soil, the pressures transmitted by the foundations, stability against overturning and sliding, and the criteria for allowable deformation were evaluated to ensure the proper functioning of the trackers and solar modules.

The solution focused on optimizing the number, geometry, and dimensions of the supports, reducing material consumption and facilitating repeatable, rapid, and cost-effective construction on a large-scale installation.

The result was a safe, optimized foundation system compatible with the construction and operational needs of a high-power photovoltaic plant.
