Structural Verification of Domes for Bulk Material Storage

INCIMAT provided the engineering resources and technological capabilities required for the structural verification of domes used for bulk material storage, evaluating their structural performance under self-weight, stored material loads, wind actions, snow loads, maintenance loads, and the specific operating conditions associated with the facility.

The scope of work included the analysis of the dome geometry, the characterization of construction materials, the assessment of support rings, stiffeners, openings, connections, access systems, and auxiliary components associated with loading and unloading operations.

Using advanced structural models, both the global and local behavior of the dome structure were evaluated, including stress distributions, deformations, shell stability, local buckling phenomena, and stress concentrations in critical areas.

The study enabled the identification of the most highly stressed regions, the verification of the overall structural integrity of the system, and the assessment of its suitability under actual operating conditions.

The result was a comprehensive technical evaluation aimed at ensuring the stability, durability, and reliability of the dome structure, providing valuable criteria for validation, maintenance planning, and potential structural optimization.
