INCIMAT carried out the structural verification of an industrial slab subjected to concentrated loads from heavy machinery, evaluating its load-bearing capacity under the demands generated during normal operating conditions.
The scope of work included the collection of geometric data for the existing slab, the definition of material mechanical properties, the characterization of loads transmitted by the machinery, and the assessment of the actual support conditions.
Using advanced finite element models, stress distributions, deformations, and support reactions within the slab were evaluated, allowing the identification of the most highly stressed areas and the verification of the applicable serviceability and ultimate limit states.
The study also included the assessment of local stress concentrations, punching shear effects, flexural behavior, interaction with the foundation system, and potential effects associated with dynamic loads generated by equipment operation.
The results enabled the verification of the structural suitability of the installation, the identification of potential strengthening requirements, and the assurance of adequate safety and durability conditions for the operation of the industrial machinery.
