Structural Strengthening of an Existing Building for Change of Use

INCIMAT developed the structural strengthening project for an existing building as part of a change-of-use process, assessing the load-bearing capacity of the original structure and defining the necessary interventions to adapt it to the new functional and regulatory requirements.

The scope of work included the inspection and characterization of the existing structural elements, the analysis of the new loads associated with the intended use, and the development of structural calculation models to verify the overall performance of the structure.

Based on the results obtained, various strengthening solutions were designed for beams, columns, floor systems, and foundations, ensuring compliance with the resistance, stability, and serviceability requirements established for the new activity to be carried out within the building.

Throughout the project, the proposed interventions were optimized to minimize the impact on the existing structure and facilitate construction works while maintaining the technical and economic feasibility of the project.

The result was a structure fully adapted to the new operating conditions, extending the building’s service life and enabling its reuse with full guarantees of safety, reliability, and functionality.
