Structural Design of Reinforced Concrete Industrial Chimneys

INCIMAT carried out the structural design of reinforced concrete industrial chimneys for energy, petrochemical, and industrial facilities, ensuring their stability and functionality under the service and environmental conditions expected throughout their design life.

The scope of work included the analysis of permanent loads, wind actions, thermal gradients, seismic effects, maintenance loads, and the forces associated with flue gas exhaust systems and related auxiliary equipment.

Using advanced structural models, the overall behavior of the chimney was evaluated, verifying the performance of the reinforced concrete shell, foundations, access systems, maintenance platforms, and the various structural components forming part of the installation.

During the development of the project, particular attention was given to global stability, deformations, stress distributions, cracking behavior, durability requirements, and the dynamic response of the structure under long-term environmental actions.

The results enabled the optimization of the chimney geometry and structural configuration, ensuring high levels of safety, reliability, and durability for facilities operating under demanding industrial conditions.
