INCIMAT conducted a safety study on the risk posed by lightning strikes for an industrial complex, assessing the facilities’ exposure and defining the protective measures necessary to ensure the safety of people and equipment, as well as the operational continuity of the facility.
The work included an analysis of the geometric characteristics of the buildings, metal structures, process facilities, electrical systems, and elements particularly sensitive to lightning strikes.
Based on the risk assessment, the required levels of protection were determined, defining lightning protection systems, down conductors, grounding networks, equipotential bonding, and measures to protect critical equipment and facilities against transient overvoltages.
The study made it possible to identify the most vulnerable points of the industrial complex and optimize the design of protective measures, thereby reducing the risk associated with direct and indirect lightning strikes.
The result was a comprehensive lightning protection solution aimed at improving the facility’s safety and minimizing potential damage to infrastructure, electrical systems, and industrial processes.
