Micropile Underpinning Project for Buildings Affected by Ground Movements

INCIMAT developed a micropile underpinning project for buildings affected by ground movements, with the objective of stabilizing the existing foundations and restoring adequate structural safety conditions.

The scope of work included the inspection of the building, the assessment of observed structural defects, the identification of cracks, differential settlements, and deformations, as well as the evaluation of potential geotechnical causes associated with ground behavior.

Based on the diagnosis, an underpinning solution using micropiles was developed to transfer structural loads to more competent soil strata and reduce the influence of near-surface ground movements on the building.

The project included the design of the micropiles, their arrangement beneath existing structural elements, the connection to the original foundation system, and the definition of the construction sequence to minimize disruption during execution.

The result was a structural and geotechnical intervention aimed at improving the stability of the building, limiting the progression of damage, and extending the service life of the structure through a solution focused on safety, durability, and technical reliability.
